PPF - PPF is issued by authorized Banks.
FD - FD is issued by Banks & NBFCs.

2 Eligibility-
PPF - PPF is eligible only for Indian citizens.
FD - FD is eligible for Residents, HUFs, Trusts, Corporation Firms, NRIs, etc.

3 Tenure-
PPF - PPF tenure ranges from 7 years to 15 years.
FD - FD tenure ranges from 7 days to 10 years.

4 Withdrawal Policy-
PPF - Premature withdrawal is allowed after the completion of 5 years.
FD - Money withdrawal depends on Bank policy.

5 Loan Facility-
PPF - Loan on PPF is possible after 3 years of account opening.
FD - Most Banks offer overdraft option upto 90% of the balance.

6 Joint Account-
PPF - Joint Account is not allowed.
FD - Joint Account is allowed.

7 Deposit Limit-
PPF - Maximum deposit amount is Rs 1.5 Lakhs.
FD - There is no upper limit for the deposit.
